ANSWERS
  1. How is this site different than the magazine?
The features and articles sections of the site contain articles and photographs from Skin Diver magazine. In services and on line, however, there are many distinguishing attributes, some of which are only accessible after you register with us. Skin Diver on line has an events calendar, dive buddy database, interactive quizzes, links to other scuba related web sites, and more. (See Site Map)

  2. What is the advantage of registering?
Because of the interactive capabilities of this site, we need to know a little about the people who are posting information. Once registered, you will have access to our buddies database, organizations list, contests, and dive clubs. You can also add web sites to our links, join the buddy list, subscribe to an Skin Diver organization, or create your own organization.

  3. I've registered before; why doesn't the site recognize me?
This site recognizes a registered user by a "cookie" which we placed earlier on his or her computer. If something happens to the "cookie" or the user access Skin Diver on line from a different computer, the site assumes you are an unregistered visitor. When this happens, you can easily log on with the old account by entering the same EMail and password in the first registration screen. Once an existing EMail/Password combination is recognized, the previously entered personal information will appear in the form. Clicking the "Register" button will place a new "cookie" on your computer and grant you access to all the features on the site.

  4. What is the purpose of the Buddy list?
The buddies list is available to all registered users and provides a network between divers, allowing you to find a dive buddy with a particular interest, expertise level, or location.

  5. What is the purpose of the organizations?
Organizations enable dive clubs or other groups with similar interests to communicate about events, new technologies, etc. Any registered user can subscribe to an organization or create his or her own. Once approved, an organization can send Email to the subscribing users, create a web page for the organization, or post events on the Skin Diver on line calendar.

  6. Why doesn't the link I added show up in the list?
Any registered user can add a link to our database or create an organization. However, before any addition will appear on the site, it must be approved by a Skin Diver site administrator. We loosely screen these postings to prevent offensive or non-scuba/snorkelling information from flooding the site. You will still be able to edit your entry (from the "administration" section under services) before it is approved.

  7. Why are you giving me a cookie?
The "cookie" that we place on your computer is a small text file that enables us to recognize the registered users. If you do not allow a "cookie," you cannot register and take full advantage of this site.
